Kingbird designed and built this brick cooking center for a family who loves cooking outside their rustic cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It features a large, adjustable charcoal grilling area at a comfortable height. However, the main feature is the enclosed smoking chamber, with adjustable racks and fire box to accommodate perfect smoking conditions. With plenty of room for steaks, burgers, ribs, brisket, and anything you could wish to cook, this barbecue/smoker was built for entertaining.
The clients asked that the design blend well visually with the cabin and the surrounding woods. Kingbird chose bricks, concrete and steel as the material palette. These materials have aged nicely, giving the impression that the structure has been a longtime resident in these comfortable surroundings. Personal touches were added such as a handle made from a wrench owned by the grandfather that built the cabin. The final product is a lasting addition to their family experiences and memories.
